Microbiology Graduate Student Chapter UPR-Medical Sciences Campus
The Microbiology Graduate Student Chapter is a student organization within the University of Puerto Rico (UPR)-Medical Sciences Campus (MSC). It was established in September 2012. The purpose of this organization is to: 1) promote student interest and further develop them in the microbiology field, 2) promote knowledge of scientific advancements in the fields of microbiology, 3) promote undergraduate student interest in microbiology and their attendance at the UPR-MSC, 4) provide aid and professional development opportunities for students at the UPR-MSC with respect to academic curriculum, research, and employment, 5) promote student participation in local, state, and national American Society of Microbiology (ASM) meetings and activities, 6) foster and environment of friendship and cooperation among student members and faculty, and 7) cooperate with other microbiology student chapters, the Puerto Rico Society of Microbiologists, and ASM. The student chapter is currently being presided by Mr. Michael A. Rodríguez Rivera (michael.rodriguez21@upr.edu) and mentored by Dr. Yisel M. Cantres Rosario (yisel.m.cantres@upr.edu).
