Arelis Tsetsakos Montalvo, is a first-year Doctor of Pharmacy student at the Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine (LECOM) School of Pharmacy. She holds a Master of Science in Pharmaceutical Affairs from Nova Southeastern University and a Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico at Bayamón.

Her involvement with the Puerto Rico Society of Microbiologists (PRSM) began as a full member, where engaging with the Society and learning from microbiology topics shared through PRSM and the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) sparked a growing interest in exploring the connection between microbiology and the pharmacy profession. As she progresses through her Pharm.D. training, she is particularly interested in exploring the role of pharmacists in antimicrobial stewardship and the responsible use of antimicrobial therapies.

Her involvement with PRSM has allowed her to remain connected to her background in the biological sciences while developing a new perspective through pharmacy. She values the interdisciplinary nature of microbiology and its relevance to healthcare, research, public health, and medication therapy.

Now serving as a newly elected social media officer, Arelis looks forward to strengthening the Society’s digital presence, highlighting the work and accomplishments of its members, and sharing educational content and professional opportunities. Through this role, she aims to increase the visibility of microbiology and its impact, and to foster scientific engagement and collaboration across multidisciplinary fields. She is committed to advocating for the importance of microbiology and promoting greater awareness of its essential contributions to science, healthcare, and society.
